It is one of the openings of the year and one of the projects we have enjoyed the most. And no wonder, we are talking about a sustainable accommodation of 5 stars, 25 rooms and more than 2.6 million m². LJs Ratxó is sustainable, homely and purely Mediterranean.
It is sustainable for its location, since it is located in the interior of the Reserva del Puig del Galatxó specialized in the recovery of native species of flora and fauna such as goats, peacocks, a great variety of birds and olive trees.
It is sustainable thanks to the rational use of water, the individual control of air conditioners, LED lighting, the elimination of single-use plastics, the digitization of printed materials, coffee beans instead of capsules, cups made with coffee grounds, a team resident on the island in a 70%, and a gastronomy that focuses on local products. A foundation stone that will lay the foundations for actions such as the cleaning of forests, the recovery of flora, use of electric vehicles and systems that will supply renewable energy.
Look how beautiful the environment is, it impresses.
And totally intentional luxury thanks to the dream of its owners, Lorenzo Fluxá Domene and Lisa Jane Cross, who wanted to turn this beautiful corner of the island into the home of many of the travelers who decide to visit it to know its authentic DNA, that of the other Mallorca: the unknown, the unexplored, the green.
A green that has inspired Lisa Jane Cross, great lover of design and Taller RMA, led in this project by Blanca Roselló, to create a creative concept with a plus of authenticity to present RATXÓ LJs as a reference of the most authentic Mallorca.
In Taller RMA we decided to keep much of the original decoration but spinning everything in the same theme in which typical elements of the island appear, such as the fabric of flames, the handmade clay containers, the blown glass and the making of lamps and other decorative details with olive wood extracted from the farm itself and worked by a team of six woodmen. Through his hands pass every day scraps of trees, which are discarded in the always necessary cleaning of the forests, and trunks that come from their usual pruning. And from there, just as the ancient carvers of the island did, they do their magic, turning nature into pure art. A natural furniture and absolutely committed to its environment.
All the buildings of the complex are covered with visible stone, in the style of the typical constructions of Mallorca. In addition, a very old piece of an oil mill is maintained, which belonged to the original estate and dates from 1675.
Among the 25 rooms and suites you will not find any like it, yes, all are decorated with boho-chic details and with old pieces in neutral and Mediterranean tones in which the wood always makes an appearance. The beds are King or Queen size and have a canopy. All have their own terrace or garden overlooking the mountains. By the way, the old water channel that gives its name to the establishment passes under the Owners Suit and is visible thanks to the glass that covers it.
